Somaliland closes voter registration with record turnout in eastern regions
Officials say more than 1.2 million voters were added, with the biggest jumps in Sool and Sanaag as the November poll approaches.

Hargeisa — The National Electoral Commission closed a five-week voter registration drive on Sunday, reporting 1.24 million new or updated records — the largest single cycle since biometric rolls were introduced.
Observers from local civil society groups said turnout was noticeably higher in Sool and Sanaag than in the last cycle, a shift analysts tie to the recent reopening of registration centers in Las Anod.
Party agents from both the governing coalition and the main opposition said they would spend the coming weeks auditing the biometric list before a court-imposed deadline in mid-August.
