Hargeisa — The National Electoral Commission announced that its cleaned voter roll for the upcoming local council elections contains roughly 1.2 million registered voters, following a biometric verification exercise the chair described as the most rigorous to date.
Civil society coalitions welcomed the numbers but pressed for the independent audit report to be released in full, arguing transparency is what separates a credible list from a contested one.
